Remarkable Wit invites developers who use or are interested in the LAMP software stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, Python and Perl) to an Enterprise LAMP Users Group on Tuesday, August 18 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the offices of Vaco Technology, 5410 Maryland Way, Suite 460, Brentwood. Cory G. Watson, Director of Development at Magazines.com and co-founder of Cold Hard Code, LLC, will speak about the advancements that have made Modern Perl possible.

There is no cost to attend. Please RSVP to Betsy.Jones@EnterpriseLAMP.org.

Nashville, flush with healthcare companies, generally means Java or .Net when programming topics arise. The LAMP stack has always been skirting the limelight, and Perl, while popular in many places around the world, isn’t as popular in the Southeastern U.S. Perl’s age and the stigma it carries from the Matt’s Script Archive days have caused Perl’s one-time glory to atrophy. The Perl community, gleefully ignoring being ignored, have been soldiering on, borrowing, innovating and creating. Cory will show you how.

Cory G. Watson has been programming for nearly 15 years and has worked in LAMP environments ranging from small town ISPs to 24/7/365 healthcare and multi-million dollar e-commerce firms. He has developed professionally in a number of languages but calls Perl his home. A contributor to and committer on many key Open Source projects in the Perl community, he is the Director of Development at Magazines.com and Co-Founder of Cold Hard Code, LLC.
